South Western Great Dane Club

Championship Show

6th April 2008

( Bitches )

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge their show, it is always a great honour to be invited as I regard judging to be a privilege. Thank you also to my stewards.

Plus, thank you to all the exibitors that came on what was not a very good day weather wise with snow and ice prevailing.

In general the Danes were good but have noticed the elegant head planes on the bitches are seemingly changing to a shorter and squarer profile. Front movement is erring to the loose upper arm and toeing in, the standard says ‘ close elbows tucked under ‘.

I do wish the rules hadn’t changed to choose a BIS, RBIS & BOS at a breed show, I personally believe it is not necessary, it doesn’t happen at general shows.
