GREAT DANE CLUB OF
CANADA
REGIONAL
SPECIALITY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
(Hosted by the Western Canada Division)
Saturday August 5th,
2007
I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for inviting me, which gave me the opportunity to judge in Canada for the first time and for their care and hospitality during our stay in the area. Also the exhibitors for their entries and their sporting behaviour during and after judging.
1st. Hymmen/Henderson/Katyal’s Daynakin’s Oscar Odyssey V Paquin. Smart fawn that despite being almost the same age, looked considerably more mature than the two fawn litter brothers that were standing second and third. I’m sure with time that differential will change but on the day I just preferred his head qualities and substance through the body of the winner.
2nd. Mignon’s Valbydane Fruits And Passion. They share many pleasing qualities and will do plenty of winning in the future but the winner just had the edge today.
3rd. Mignon’s Ch. Valbydane Forbidden Fruit
1st. Goldstone/Conboy’s Paquestone’ Antionio’s Zorro. Quality fawn that looked a picture standing as he has an excellent head, plenty of substance, correct bone and a clean outline, which is balanced throughout. In addition he moved with the drive I was looking for. Pleased to make him Best In Sweepstakes.
1st. Collinson/Henrich’s Adonis’ Just Be Cuz. Huge blue with a pleasing head, plenty of substance and lots of bone. Moved very well which is what tipped the balance in his favour.
2nd. Verwey/Wesbster’s Kismet’s Another Shutout. Another nicely shaped blue but lacking the substance in body of the winner. Covered the ground well on the move but a little lacking in drive.
3rd Powell/Norrie/Twells’ Adonis’ I Take Mine Black
4th. Powell/Payne’s Adonis’ Juskant Hold My Licker
1st. Humphrey/Mignon’s Ch. Valbydane Aintweapear V BLKLBL Another set of sibling from the same litter as second & third in 6-9 months male class. Obviously a quality litter that I’m sure the breeder is very proud of having already produced two Champions and probably more to come. As with the males, very similar in type, just preferred the winners overall balance and presence.
2nd Chappelle/Mignon’s Valbydane Freshly Squeezed
3rd. Pedden/Kaswaski’s Adonis’ Kaswaski’s Kreature
1st. King/King/Goldstone’s Ch. Paquestones Zippy Doo Da Daz. Sorry but my notes on this class have become illegible.
1st. Hill/Dunn’s SFV’S A Beautiful Friendship. This was a tight decision between two well-grown fawns. Both had qualities that I liked also others that I would have preferred different, in addition they were expertly handled to show them to advantage. In the end the winner took it by virtue of her better condition and movement that was just a little neater.
2nd. Goldstone/Watne’s Paquestones Ya Ta Tequilla. Liked this one and preferred her head but was she was between coats and that spoilt the otherwise pleasing picture.
3rd. Verwey’s Ch. Kismet’s Area Fifty One CGN
4th. Marois/Malanefant’s Adonis’Imperatrice Vesta
